Expressing through bamboo using my hands, art, nature and technology.
Mariana Diaz Leites

I am an architect and designer specializing in computational design, bamboo architecture, and neuroarchitecture. I hold a Master’s degree in Advanced Computation for Architecture and Design (MACAD), where I explored the intersection between parametric systems, material intelligence, and digital craft.

Currently, I am studying Neuroarchitecture, focusing on how spatial form, natural materials, and sensory experience influence cognition, emotion, and well-being. This research expands my ongoing exploration of bamboo as a neuroaesthetic material: one capable of evoking calm, connection, and harmony through its geometry and tactile qualities.

My work investigates how bamboo can operate as both structure and language, merging technology and handcraft to redefine sustainable design systems. This exploration manifests across multiple scales, from architectural installations and spatial structures to jewelry and furniture, always grounded in the act of building.

I lead Qincha Bambú, a design and construction studio based in Bacalar, Mexico, dedicated to creating custom-built spaces and objects that merge technology, craftsmanship, and emotional intelligence. Through Qincha, I develop architectural systems that balance digital precision with organic imperfection, translating computational design into tangible, livable structures.

My professional practice integrates research, teaching, and real-world design, with an emphasis on client-based projects, parametric design applications, and bamboo-based construction. Each project is a collaboration between structure, neuroscience, and nature.

Please feel free to connect with me via email or LinkedIn to discuss design and construction collaborations or research in computational bamboo architecture, neuroaesthetic design, and material-based innovation.
